Molecular Weight	The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 31.4 kDa after removal of the signal peptide. The apparent molecular mass of CLDN2-hFc is approximately 25-35 kDa due to glycosylation.
Purity	The purity of the protein is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie blue staining.

Background	This gene product belongs to the claudin protein family whose members have been identified as major integral membrane proteins localized exclusively at tight junctions. Claudins are expressed in an organ-specific manner and regulate tissue-specific physiologic properties of tight junctions. This protein is expressed in the intestine.
