Molecular Weight	The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 51.8 kDa after removal of the signal peptide. The apparent molecular mass of SCG3-His is approximately 55-70 kDa due to glycosylation.
Purity	The purity of the protein is greater than 85% as determined by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie blue staining.

Background	The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Granins may serve as precursors for biologically active peptides. Some granins have been shown to function as helper proteins in sorting and proteolytic processing of prohormones; however, the function of this protein is unknown.
